Wynn Resorts Gets State Certification For Everett Casino Site
Wynn Resorts has been fighting a lawsuit filed by the City of Boston and the Mayor of Boston over its proposed $1.7 billion Everett casino as the alleges that the state gaming commission had broken a number of rules in order to grant Wynn Resorts an Everett casino license.
State attorney Maura Healey had also come down hard on Wynn Resorts stating that the proposed casino site would cause a lot of traffic congestion problems and hence wanted the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to hire a private agency to conduct an independent traffic analysis. Healey had written a 15 page letter to Environmental Secretary Matthew Beaton asking him to not to issue Wynn Resorts with an environmental permit until the study was completed.
Matthew Beaton recently sent across a 27 page and stated that Wynn Resorts Everett casino meets all the necessary requirements that MassDOT stipulates and that there was no reason for the environmental permit to be delayed any longer. Beaton also stated that Wynn Resorts casino proposal complies with the state Environmental Policy Act and has taken into consideration all environmental concerns to ensure that the Everett casino does not impact and damage the environment. This key decision was welcomed by a number of important individuals.
Massachusetts Gaming Commission spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll was happy with the MassDOT decision and stated that Wynn Resorts is now a step closer in commencing construction work on its Everett casino and that the decision was a step in the right direction in improving economic conditions and bringing in more job opportunities to the people of Boston.
Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria has thrown his support behind the Everett casino as the billion dollar casino resort would bring huge benefits for the city of Everett and the mayor was anxious for the project to commence at the earliest. DeMaria stated that decision by MassDOT brought a lot of happiness to the Everett committee who had put in a lot of hard work along with the Wynn Resorts team.
