This particular event takes place over a 2 month period and over 7,192 players have already registered for the Monster Stack event. The Belize team comprises of Vijay Vidhani of Corozal; Jason Southwell and Phil Rigby of San Pedro; husband and wife, Emil and Amanda Arguelles; brothers Mick and Gian Carlo Fabro; John Chee, Michael “Yellow” Henry, Houston “Pros” Carr and Bob BouNahra, of Belize City. Bob has taken on the responsibly of being the leader for team Belize.
The team from Belize was sponsored by Princess Poker Room and many of them have never been to Las Vegas or taken part in an international poker tournament. The team had the chance to meet and have dinner with poker legends Joe Hachem and Antonio Esfiandari.
In a statement, Antonio Esfiandari said
Team Belize obviously they’ve come here and a lot of them are here for the first time and so I think for them to kinda know somebody here and have some support here would help them in some way or the other. You know I married a Belizean, so I have a soft spot in my heart for all Belizeans. And so I met team Belize and they were very warm, kind people and it was great to host them and hang out with them and I would love for one of them to win the tournament; that would be great.
Many of the poker players from Belize were in awe of the entire event and were happy to just be a part of the experience. Team Leader Bob has promised that he will continue to bring more players from Belize to the next WSOP.
