Macau’s New Studio City Casino To Host Mariah Carey and Madonna
Macau’s casino industries have lost more than $100 billion during the last 18 months but that has not stopped gambling establishments from launching new casinos on the Cotai strip.
Australian billionaire James Packer’s Studio City, which cost $3.8 billion is the latest casino in Macau that is scheduled to open towards the end of October and the leadership team is looking to heavily promote the casino by bringing in some of the biggest celebrities in the world.
Beijing’s anti-corruption crackdown has scared away VIP gamblers and high rollers from Macau’s casinos and as a result the casinos were forced to adopt a mass market gambling strategy.
The competition to win customers over and build a loyal fan base is extremely fierce and Packer realizes that the first few months of Studio City’s operations are critical to building a strong customer base.
The Australian billionaire who is currently dating R&B diva Mariah Carey has managed to convince the talented singer to perform at this Studio City casino in Macau for a undisclosed sum of money that is expected to be in the high six figures. The 45 year old Mariah Carey will sing at the grand opening of the Studio City casino which is scheduled to take place on the 27th of October.
Packer had earlier hired the services of Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and director Martin Scorsese to prepare a short film called ‘The Audition’ that was focused on promoting Studio City and attracting more gamblers from Mainland China. Reports suggest that Studio City paid $83 million to produce the film and the same can also be viewed on YouTube. All three celebrities will be present at the grand opening.
Studio City officials are now just thinking promotions in 2015 but also for 2016 and have successfully managed to book the queen of pop Madonna. The diva will do two shows in Hong Kong early next year and will late visit Studio City on the 20th and 21st of Feb and host a concern for her Rebel Heart tour.
Madaonna’s Hong Kong concerns were sold out quickly and fans that were not able to purchase a ticket could do the short trip from Hong Kong to Macau to see Madonna perform at Studio City’s state of the art entertainment facility that can seat up to 5,000 people. Tickets for the show can be purchased from the 16th of October by going to www.studiocity-macau.com
