Lago Resort & Casino Confident Of Obtaining License in New York
Constructing a US casino in a state like New York is no easy task as there are numerous permits to be secured before construction can commence.
One of the key permits for any developer to secure is the environmental permit. The developers of the Lago Resort & Casino plan to construct a $425 million casino that will be located forty miles west of Syracuse and were happy to secure an environmental permit from the Tyre Town Board.
However the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division overruled the permit issued by the Tyre Town Board in July 2015 stating that board did not conduct a detailed enough review before issuing the environmental license. There will now be another environmental review conducted by the Tyre Town Board and a final decision on the environmental permit will be made before October 2015.
The developers of the Lago Resort & Casino have already submitted over 3000 pages of documentation detailing their policies on conserving the environment.
The developers have taken into consideration the 24 acres of wildlife area and will look to preserve the land. They are also looking at implementing storm water management and alternate solar energy to ensure that the wetlands do not get affected. The developers will also invest into an improved water supply system to benefit the locals in the town of Tyre. There are a number of parties that have opposed the Lago Resort & Casino stating that even though the casino has proposed to protect the wetlands and wildlife zones, there will still be an impact on the environment.
The developers have been pro-active in working on the process to ensure that they do everything they can to get the environmental process approved. Brent Stevens, managing member of Peninsula Pacific and Thomas Wilmot Sr., chairman of Rochester-based Wilmorite who are project partners for the casino have confirmed that the casino leadership will not only meet the environmental norms imposed by the state of New York but that they will also go a step further and exceed expectations.
In a statement,
We have said since day one that we intend to be good neighbors and that commitment has never wavered. We are treating this project as if we are building it in our backyard, because that’s exactly what we’re doing.
The new casino will create a number of employment opportunities for the locals and also encourage tourism, thereby benefitting the town and the nearby population considerably.
