Horseshoe Casino To Host “Back to the Beginning” Senior Poker Tour
The Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, Mississippi hosted the Senior Poker Tour (SPT) in January 2014 for the first time and the event turned out to be a great success so much so that the Horseshoe Casino has once again been selected to host the SPT for the second consecutive year.
The Casino is promoting the event as a “Back to the Beginning” event which is scheduled to take place over a period of 4 days starting on the 19th of Feb and ending on the 22nd of Feb.
The SPT will feature a number of exciting poker events and will end with a Main Event that has a $550 buy-in.
In 2014, a total of 121 players registered for the SPT and created a total of $65,500 in prize money which was won by Glen Biddle from Centerville, Ohio. Event organizers were happy with the first SPT and the response it got and believe that this year it will turn out to be even bigger and better.
The SPT is expected to draw a number of senior professional poker players who are still well known on the poker circuit. Some of the team pros that have confirmed their attendance include Mark “P0ker H0” Kroon, Dennis Phillips, The Duke of Fremont Street, Jan Fisher, Linda Johnson, Marsha Waggoner, Susie Isaacs, Donna Blevins, Robert “Chip Burner” Turner and Nancy Todd.
Hal Coblentz is the Vice President of the SPT and the man who successfully launched the first SPT event back in 2014. Coblentz was excited about the 2015 edition as a number of exciting events have been planned.
In a statement, Coblentz said
We have several new stops this year which include Cherokee Casino, West Siloam Springs on April 6; Senior Poker Week which is a variety of events with several venues in Las Vegas this summer; and one series we are extremely excited about is the “SPT Seniors Championship at Sea” a seven-night Western Caribbean Cruise Aboard Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas with Card Player Cruises. Our newest tournament is the “Super Seniors” event that features players over 70.
Players must be over 50 years old to participate in the SPT. This year the tour will also feature a number of exciting events including a Senior’s Poker Week that will coincide with the World Series of Poker and a Senior Poker Tour World Championship which will take place at sea in collaboration with Card Player Cruises.
